What To Expect After Your Massage
There are a variety of post massage feelings. You may feel relaxed, and notice a positive change to your mood. A day or so after your massage, you may feel tender, this is due to the tissues in your body conditioning, this feeling is typically short lived.
Some people notice a feeling that we call "Massage Drunk" this is because during massage, the body reaches complete relaxation. We recommend that you stretch, stay well hydrated and try to keep balanced and calm for the remainder of the day after your treatment. Going for a walk, or having an epsom bath will also help.
Why is it important to drink more water?
Imagine a sponge that is not pliable or willing to move, once you hydrate the sponge, it becomes soft and flexible. Our tissues are like that sponge, they need that water to function. The body is made up of 80% water and so it is essential to get the right amount. The best way to consume water is just as is, not with coffee, or tea or other mixes as this can make it harder on the body to properly hydrate itself. Consuming water at room temperature is most ideal to fully absorb its hydration. Drinking cold water takes more energy to warm up in your body, using fluids in the process and thus not getting the full hydrating benefits. Adding fresh lemon or orange, mint or cucumber is a great way to add some natural flavour, and nutrients to give more incentive to drink water.
It’s important to keep an eye on your hydration levels. If you drink too much water, it can dilute the nutrients in your body and decrease electrolytes. If too little, dehydration can occur, and can be the root of problems such as body aches, headaches, stiffness and dizziness. Extreme cases of dehydration can result in cramps and fainting. An easy indicator of knowing if you are hydrated or not, is by your urine colour. If your urine is a dark yellow or brown, drink more water. If it is pale or clear, you are well hydrated. **Your urine colour can vary with medications**
